elijah went into town early saturday morning so i was on my own to explore the farm. which i fully intended to do. i was out in one of the pastures when elijah's father, dave, drove up. i hopped in and we went driving through the pastures looking at the cattle and the calves. we had to go slow at times to let the little guys get out from in front of the truck. it was fun. i got to ride along and feed them, too.
later, i went with josh to check on some of the mothers who were calving. i got to see two live births. we were riding the four wheelers. fun!
elijah came back and he and i went to see his grandmother. there, we shot some bluerock aka clay pigeons. that was a blast, no pun intended. i had a good conversation with his grandmother. she's a wonderful lady and i like her. we left around 5:30 as we were going to eat at junie mae's.
IT WAS AWESOME!!! if you're in ogalalla, then you must eat there. it's such a great place. an odd thing happened though. a man who was eating there started to choke, but another man administered the heimlich and the piece of food was dislodged.
this cute little guy here is one of the calves whose mother died. he needs to be bottle fed now. when we went out to feed him breakfast, he was all wet and cold. he had fallen into the water tank! poor guy!
and this is bucky. he's a very big calf, but that only makes him cuter. his mother also died so he needs bottle fed too. i had the honor of feeding him breakfast. he drank an entire bucket of milk in no time!
this is just another pic of bucky. i scratched behind his ears and found out that he really likes that. so i spent time to go out and scratch his ears for him. that made him happy.
here is elijah's mother, deb, trying to get a photo of bucky. he wanted to play and wasn't staying still. he kept bucking into her. but she did get a pretty good close up of him!
