these are my stuffed animals

hey kids! this is the story of the stuffed animal bunch, and how they made it to scottie's dresser. first, from left to right, there's everett. he's always looking for someone to hug and he has a really big heart which he wears proudly and people can see it. can you see it kids? i bet you can. everett came from a small, christian thrift store in columbus. that thrift store is called "the simon house" and is scottie's favorite there in columbus. *whispering softly* i think the nice lady working that day let scottie take everett home for only a nickel. yeah, just a nickel!

secondly, do you see the ant-eater right in front of everett? well, his name is donovan. and he came all the way from germany. that's far away, isn't it? a girl that was in germany with scottie gave donovan to him. scottie has always been very grateful. donovan is quiet and doesn't say much. unless there are ants around! then he sings and dances. how fun! maybe that's where scottie learned to sing and dance.

next, there is benson. a really good friend gave benson to scottie and benson is wonderful. he knows scottie's most favorite-est song ever. kids, do you know what song that is? superman? by goldfinger? oh no, it's much better than that! it's jesus loves me. do you know that one? i bet you do. you can wind benson up and he'll sing the song for you. scottie enjoys this song very much. it reminds him of when he was a kid and when his mother would sing it to him. it also fills his heart with so much joy and happiness. sometimes benson tries to comfort scottie when he's sad. benson sings the song and helps scottie remember how great our lord jesus is and how much he loves scottie.

following benson, is chase. there was a really long time in scottie's life where his parents didn't have much money. scottie didn't get many presents during that time for birthdays and christmases. scottie's mother gave chase to him when he had just turned 18. how funny is it that scottie's mother thought chase was a girl dog? that's pretty funny, isn't it? scottie's friend jenny thought chase was a girl dog too. she thought chase's name was chelsey. for the longest time, chase went with scottie everywhere. he didn't always peek his head out of scottie's bookbag, or even get out of the car, but he was always going where scottie was going. scottie really liked receiving chase as a present because he hadn't gotten anything that he could use for so long. his mother still doesn't know how much this means to scottie. he's very thankful and scottie learned that he could love his mother, at a time when he wasn't do a very good job of that. it's good to love our mothers, isn't it kids? it sure is.

and last, there is a pink carebear. she's never told scottie her name. scottie got her from his friends the andersons. they were just going to throw the pink carebear out! oh no! scottie said he'd take care of the bear because the bear is somewhat old and there have been so many new bears since, that most kids these days don't know what a carebear is. scottie thinks it's important for his children someday to be able to play with a carebear. maybe by then, the carebear will have told her name! who knows?

well kids. it's very late. and past our time to be in bed. but before we brush our teeth and hop into our beds, let's think about how great the even the minut-est stories of our lives are. the little ones, the short ones, the ones that might not even seem too important. they are all very special and very unique to each one of us. they are all a part of our bigger story that we are a part of. be sure and thank god for being such a creative god, and such a loving and merciful god that he would choose to give us these wonderful things! thanks for listening you guys. off to bed now! good night and cheers . . ..

observation: I started reading your stuffed-animal stories, and then I thought, "I don't have time... I don't need to read this. I'll just skip it." And so I did, for a few minutes, and then I thought to myself: "I REALLY want to read it... to hell with my schedule." I'm very glad I read it.

I love my mother, I love my friends, I love you.
