jonathan and i recycle. we were talking this morning of the possibly for a neighborhood association to have small recycling centers in them. i, for one, would choose to live somewhere that had a recycling center to offer over one that did not. we imagined a neighborhood recycling center would be smaller than the usual ones you see around town. they are big, like semi trailer big. i believe there would be more recycling if something like this were done.
and why keep this only to neighborhood associations? couldn't the city have these small centers in parks or something? i think so. there are more burger kings here in lincoln than there are recycling centers. i can definately tell that i live in the states. let's get more recycling centers. let's create more jobs. let's better the place we live in and be good stewards to this world. and let's catch up to countries like germany, who are thirty years ahead of us in the recycling biz.
the entire conversation sprung from jonathan's comment that we are putting less trash in the trash can. i'm glad to see this. when i lived with brittan, we only threw away a black, hefty sack each month. and that included bathroom waste which you cannot recycle. and we had so many people over because bands played at our house and we had parties all the time. we felt like we were being over charged for trash services, being that it took at least three months to fill up the trash can that sat out back. my friend travis was/is the same way. he actually didn't have a trash service coming to his house because he so rarely would make use of it.
imagine if more people would do this. imagine if they would get over their fear of not knowing how to recycle, or where to take it. wow! there would be wayyyyyyy less trash that would be buried in landfills. "outta sight, outta mind". something to think about maybe. cheers . . ..

i had no idea you felt this way. that makes me like you about 10x's more than previously. if only others felt as hot and bothered about recycling as we did!
